PATRYCJA PIEKUTOWSKA
PATRYCJA PIEKUTOWSKA is one of the most famous Polish violinists. She is a Profesor Ph.D. in music arts.
She is the first ever violinist in Poland awarded the greatest musical prize — MIDEM Cannes Classical Award 2008 for the recording of K. Penderecki Capriccio for a violin and symphony orchestra with the Composer conducting himself.
She has pursued an intensive solo career in Poland and abroad for 16 years. Foreign tours have taken her to 28 countries (Albania, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, Denmark, Equador, France, Germany, Holland, India, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Peru, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uruguay, United States and Venezuela).
The highlights of her career include more than 50 concerts in South America, including season opening of Teatro Colon with Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra (the first performance in that hall of the second Wieniawski violin concerto), one in Montevideo with a Symphony Orchestra, numerous ones in Chile (Concepcion, Frutillar, La Serena, Punta Arenas, Valparaiso, Vina del Mar) and one with the Santiago de Chile Philharmonic Orchestra (2003) this latter was declared in a radio poll to be the best soloist performance of the season. In May 2007 she toured Peru and Chile giving several recitals.
February 2008 she gave concerts in Venezuela, both recitals and performances with the Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil de Carabobo in Puerto Cabello and Valencia. She was honoured with Orden General en Jefe "Juan Jose Flores" Unica clase.
She graduated from the Chopin Music University in Warsaw, getting a diploma with distinction and from two-year post-graduate master degree studies with Maestro Igor Oistrakh at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, gaining the “Grand Distinction” diploma in 2002 Since 2002 Piekutowska has been teaching at the Chopin Music University in Warsaw, since 2010 has been a professor at the Art Academy in Szczecin.
In June and October 2005 she toured China (with performances at the country’s biggest music event, the “Beijing Music Festival”). September 2006 saw her promote her CD in Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York where she got a few-minute long standing ovation.
Beside MIDEM Award she received CD Awards in Luxembourg, Belgium, Italy and Spain. Piekutowska gave many concerts in 2008 to celebrate Penderecki’s 75th birthday in the USA (Washington DC, New York), Germany, Ireland and Poland, where she had the honour to play during the opening concert of Penderecki’s Festival in the Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw.
In January 2009 she performed in Curitiba, Brasil and gave Master Classes on the 27th Festival Oficina de Musica. In February and April she gave recitals in Spain and Portugal.
In May 2009 she released her latest CD, “The Power of Emotion”, containing very sensual and beautiful violin and piano miniatures such composers as Rahmaninoff, Piazzolla, Williams, Massenet to name the few.
In August 2009 she played in Russia for the first time giving a Polish music recital at the Pushkin Museum’s White Hall in Moscow.
In 2010 she returned on stage after giving birth to her dearest son. She performed concerts in Moscow promoting her solo violin recital. In October she promoted the same recital in Madrid opening the season of Fundacion BBVA Solo Recitals Festival.
In December 2010 she performed Chopin Piano Trio in Weill Hall at the Carnegie Hall in New York during the official celebration of The Chopin Year Project.
In February 2011 she made the Polish premiere of Fabian Panisello Violin Concerto, one of the most important composers of our times, with Panisello conducting himself. In March and April she performed in Beijing (solo recitals) and Wuhan (Siebelius violin concerto with Wuhan Symphony orchestra).
In May 2011 she promoted her great project "Solo Violin Recital from Bach until Penderecki" touring Peru, Bolivia and Equador as well as performing at the National Opera Recital Hall in Warsaw.
In July 2011 she performed Sibelius violin concerto in Tianjin (China) with Tianjin Symphony Orchestra.
In May 2012 she was invited to highlight the event celebrating Warsaw — Beijing air connection by Lot Polish Airlines. The concert was held in Beijing and was attended by the First Lady Anna Komorowska.
During the October 2012 China tour with Sinfonia Iuventus she performed in such renowned concert halls as Tianjin Grand Theater, China National Center for the Performing Arts, Wuhan Philharmony, Harbin Hall.
In March 2013 she played pieces by Lutoslawski and Górecki with Curitiba Philharmonic orchestra in Brasil, whereas in April 2013 the artist toured Chile and Argentina with a solo violin recital.
