MICHAŁ ROSIAK
Michal – born in Poland in 1977 — has extensive experience in teaching, performance & composition. An inductee into the Australian music scene, he has spent most of his career to date in Europe where he has won many accolades for his compositions and teaching, as well as being principal Flautist with Opole Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland, member of ESPRIT Flute Trio and a flute teacher in Chopin State School of Music in Opole.
Michal has been a prizewinner of various competitions including the International Festival for Young Musicians in Neerpelt / Belgium (1st Prize summa cum laude), the 25th Polish Competition for Chamber Music in Wroclaw / Poland, the 2nd & 3rd National Competition for Young Composers in Tarnow / Poland, the scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Culture and the All Flutes Plus London scholarship.
Michal has performed as a soloist with the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, Capella Cracoviensis, Heidelberger Kammerorchester and Chamber Philharmonia Cologne. He has appeared as a flautist with the Australian Army Band, The Queensland Orchestra, Camerata of St John and Adelaide Art Orchestra.
He has also been a flute & ensemble tutor for the South Australian State Music Camp and the Queensland Youth Orchestra.
He is a guest artists at the Australian Flute Festival in Canberra. His composition “Scherzo” has been a compulsory piece for the ensemble competition at the Australian Flute Festival in Adelaide in 2009 His music has been performed in Poland, Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Belgium, Russia, United States, New Zealand and Australia and has also been broadcast by ABC Classic.
