„Mar­i­an Sob­u­la is one of the most tal­ent­ed pi­anist of his gen­er­a­tion.”

Grad­u­ate of the Acade­my of Mu­sic in Cra­cow, Poland from pro­fes­sor An­drzej Pikul’s class in 2005, Mar­i­an Sob­u­la has also com­plet­ed his stud­ies at Ac­cademia di San­ta Ce­cil­ia in Rome with pro­fes­sor Ser­gio Per­ti­caroli (the best 2008 diplo­ma award), ad­di­tion­al­ly he par­tic­i­pat­ed in sev­er­al Mas­ter Class­es from pro­fes­sor Arie Var­di. In 2011 he re­ceived his PhD for Etudes d’ex­e­cu­tion tran­scen­dante by Fer­enc Liszt.

Mar­i­an Sob­u­la is the win­ner of sev­er­al na­tion­al and in­ter­na­tion­al Pi­ano Com­pe­ti­tions: The Yama­ha Mu­sic Foun­da­tion of Eu­rope Com­pe­ti­tion in By­d­goszcz (Poland, 2005), Pol­ish Pi­anists Com­pe­ti­tion in Słup­sk (Poland, 2003), In­ter­na­tion­al Pi­ano Com­pe­ti­tion in Val­ladol­id (S­pain, 2005)) Cit­ta di An­cona, Fog­gia, Go­rizia, Por­de­none, Sul­mona and the 47th Award "Cit­ta di Tre­vi­so" (I­taly, 2003, 2004). He was also a medal­list at “­Maria Canals Pi­ano Com­pe­ti­tion” in Barcelona in 2001 In 2007 he re­ceived the Spe­cial Prize dur­ing the In­ter­na­tion­al Mu­sic Com­pe­ti­tion “­Dr. Luis Sigall” in Vina Del Mar, Chile.

He has re­ceived a num­ber of awards and schol­ar­ships both from na­tion­al and in­ter­na­tion­al foun­da­tions and in­sti­tu­tions: UN­ESCO in Paris, JESC in Japan, Ital­ian Gov­ern­ment, Min­istry of Cul­ture and Na­tion­al Her­itage in Poland, Min­istry of Sci­ence and High­er Ed­u­ca­tion, Cul­tur­al Foun­da­tion in War­saw, May­or of the City of Cra­cow and Crescen­dum Est – Polo­nia Foun­da­tion. In July 2008 Mar­i­an re­ceived a pres­ti­gious award of the City of Cra­cow “ARS QUAEREN­DI” for his re­mark­able ac­tiv­i­ty in the de­vel­op­ment and pro­mo­tion of cul­ture.

His de­but took place with Si­mon Bo­li­var Sym­pho­ny Or­ches­tra in the Teatro Tere­sa Car­reno in Cara­cas in Venezuela in 2008 with 1st Pi­ano Con­cer­to by Chopin. He per­formed in Że­la­zowa Wola, Atma, Roy­al Cas­tle in War­saw, Wawel Cas­tle in Cra­cow, Am Gasteig in Mu­nich, Beethoven­halle in Bonn, Rathaus Berlin, Au­di­to­rio Par­co del­la Mu­si­ca in Rome, Dome les In­valides in Paris, Teatro Mu­nic­i­pal de San­ti­a­go de Chile, Casa de la Mu­si­ca in Quito, Con­cert Hall Cen­ter in Min­neapo­lis, Sey­mour The­ater Cen­ter in Syd­ney, Den­ki Bunka-Kaikan in Nagoya, Na­tion­al Phil­har­mon­ic Hall and Grand The­ater in War­saw; New York, Mi­a­mi, Salt Lake City, Buenos Aires, Bo­go­ta, Lima, Ha­vana, Mon­ter­rey, Madrid, Mi­lan, Copen­hagen, Stock­holm, Prague, Bu­dapest, Beirut, Am­man, Shang­hai, Xi­a­men, Tokyo.

He has fre­quent­ly per­formed as a soloist with: Beethoven Acade­my Or­ches­tra, Pol­ish Ra­dio Or­ches­tra, Orques­ta Sin­fóni­ca de Castil­la y León, Si­mon Bo­li­var Youth Or­ches­tra, Sin­fon­i­ca Ju­ve­nil de Cara­cas, Orques­ta Sin­fon­i­ca de Chile, Orques­ta Sin­fon­i­ca Nazion­al de Ecuador, Orques­ta Sin­fon­i­ca de la Uni­ver­si­dad Nue­vo Leon, Cam­er­a­ta de Cu­riti­ba, Lebanese Na­tion­al Sym­pho­ny Or­ches­tra, Or­ches­tras of Phil­har­mon­ic Halls of all ma­jor Pol­ish cities: By­d­goszcz, Kraków, Gdańsk, Kalisz, Ka­tow­ice, Kosza­lin, Kielce, Lublin, Łódź, Opole, Szczecin, Wałbrzych and Wrocław. He per­formed dur­ing pres­ti­gious Fes­ti­vals e.g. East­er Beethoven Fes­ti­val, Beethoven­fest in Bonn, Fes­ti­val In­ter­na­tion­al Mu­si­ca do Al­garve, Ko­torArt in Mon­tene­gro, Ofic­i­na de Mu­si­ca in Brazil. He also per­formed at World Ex­hi­bi­tion EXPO in Aichi in Japan (2005), Zaragoza in Spain (2008), 20th Eco­nom­ic Fo­rum in Kryn­i­ca-Z­droj in Poland (2010).

He has co­op­er­at­ed with out­stand­ing Pol­ish con­duc­tors: Łukasz Borow­icz, Tomasz Bugaj, Wo­j­ciech Czepiel, Bo­gus­law Daw­id­ow, Michał Dworzyńs­ki, Michał Nes­terow­icz, Marek Pi­jarows­ki, Jerzy Sal­warows­ki as well as Masi­m­il­iano Cal­di, Pe­ter Guelke, Gui­do Aj­mon-­Marsan, Je­sus Med­i­na, Di­et­rich Pare­des, Ale­jan­dro Posa­da, Rober­to Tibir­i­ca, and mu­si­cians: Aga­ta Szym­czews­ka, Pa­tryc­ja Pieku­tows­ka — vi­o­lin, Michał Dmo­chows­ki – cel­lo.

His record­ings have been broad­cast by sev­er­al me­dia: Pol­ish Ra­dios, RMF Clas­sic, Deutsche Welle, ABC Clas­sic FM (Aus­tralia), Ra­dio Fed­eri­co San­ta Maria de Chile or RAI. He has also record­ed for Pol­ish Tele­vi­sion, Lebanese TV Sta­tion Tele­Lu­miere. Since 2008 Mar­i­an Sob­u­la has been work­ing in the Pi­ano De­part­ment of Acade­my of Mu­sic in Cra­cow (Poland) and con­duct­ed mas­ter class­es in: Acade­my of Per­form­ing Arts Bratisla­va, Hochschule fur Musik und The­ater Leipzig, Con­ser­va­to­rio Nazion­al Lima, Cen­tral Con­ser­va­to­ry of Mu­sic in Chi­na. He served also as a jury mem­ber in com­pe­ti­tions for young pi­anists in Leipzig, Kosice, Shang­hai and Cu­riti­ba.
