MARIAN SOBULA

Graduate of the Academy of Music in Cracow, Poland from professor Andrzej Pikul’s class in 2005, Marian Sobula has also completed his studies at Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome with professor Sergio Perticaroli (the best 2008 diploma award), additionally he participated in several Master Classes from professor Arie Vardi. In 2011 he received his PhD for Etudes d’execution transcendante by Ferenc Liszt.
Marian Sobula is the winner of several national and international Piano Competitions: The Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Competition in Bydgoszcz (Poland, 2005), Polish Pianists Competition in Słupsk (Poland, 2003), International Piano Competition in Valladolid (Spain, 2005)) Citta di Ancona, Foggia, Gorizia, Pordenone, Sulmona and the 47th Award "Citta di Treviso" (Italy, 2003, 2004). He was also a medallist at “Maria Canals Piano Competition” in Barcelona in 2001 In 2007 he received the Special Prize during the International Music Competition “Dr. Luis Sigall” in Vina Del Mar, Chile.
He has received a number of awards and scholarships both from national and international foundations and institutions: UNESCO in Paris, JESC in Japan, Italian Government, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Poland, Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Cultural Foundation in Warsaw, Mayor of the City of Cracow and Crescendum Est – Polonia Foundation. In July 2008 Marian received a prestigious award of the City of Cracow “ARS QUAERENDI” for his remarkable activity in the development and promotion of culture.
His debut took place with Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra in the Teatro Teresa Carreno in Caracas in Venezuela in 2008 with 1st Piano Concerto by Chopin. He performed in Żelazowa Wola, Atma, Royal Castle in Warsaw, Wawel Castle in Cracow, Am Gasteig in Munich, Beethovenhalle in Bonn, Rathaus Berlin, Auditorio Parco della Musica in Rome, Dome les Invalides in Paris, Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, Casa de la Musica in Quito, Concert Hall Center in Minneapolis, Seymour Theater Center in Sydney, Denki Bunka-Kaikan in Nagoya, National Philharmonic Hall and Grand Theater in Warsaw; New York, Miami, Salt Lake City, Buenos Aires, Bogota, Lima, Havana, Monterrey, Madrid, Milan, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Prague, Budapest, Beirut, Amman, Shanghai, Xiamen, Tokyo.
He has frequently performed as a soloist with: Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Polish Radio Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, Sinfonica Juvenil de Caracas, Orquesta Sinfonica de Chile, Orquesta Sinfonica Nazional de Ecuador, Orquesta Sinfonica de la Universidad Nuevo Leon, Camerata de Curitiba, Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestras of Philharmonic Halls of all major Polish cities: Bydgoszcz, Kraków, Gdańsk, Kalisz, Katowice, Koszalin, Kielce, Lublin, Łódź, Opole, Szczecin, Wałbrzych and Wrocław. He performed during prestigious Festivals e.g. Easter Beethoven Festival, Beethovenfest in Bonn, Festival International Musica do Algarve, KotorArt in Montenegro, Oficina de Musica in Brazil. He also performed at World Exhibition EXPO in Aichi in Japan (2005), Zaragoza in Spain (2008), 20th Economic Forum in Krynica-Zdroj in Poland (2010).
He has cooperated with outstanding Polish conductors: Łukasz Borowicz, Tomasz Bugaj, Wojciech Czepiel, Boguslaw Dawidow, Michał Dworzyński, Michał Nesterowicz, Marek Pijarowski, Jerzy Salwarowski as well as Masimiliano Caldi, Peter Guelke, Guido Ajmon-Marsan, Jesus Medina, Dietrich Paredes, Alejandro Posada, Roberto Tibirica, and musicians: Agata Szymczewska, Patrycja Piekutowska — violin, Michał Dmochowski – cello.
His recordings have been broadcast by several media: Polish Radios, RMF Classic, Deutsche Welle, ABC Classic FM (Australia), Radio Federico Santa Maria de Chile or RAI. He has also recorded for Polish Television, Lebanese TV Station TeleLumiere. Since 2008 Marian Sobula has been working in the Piano Department of Academy of Music in Cracow (Poland) and conducted master classes in: Academy of Performing Arts Bratislava, Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Leipzig, Conservatorio Nazional Lima, Central Conservatory of Music in China. He served also as a jury member in competitions for young pianists in Leipzig, Kosice, Shanghai and Curitiba.
